So recently, from May 26th to 29th, I went to my first ever Summer Camp!! And the fact that the venue is really far from home and it was my first time being away for a long time made me shiver at the thought. At first, I thought it would be really boring, but boy was I wrong, it was actually really fun! It's definitely worth trying and is one of my greatest experiences as a teenager. The camp is called "Camp Torchbearer" and was held at Epic Park Rainforest at Tanay, Rizal.

The beautiful treehouse at the forest. Sadly, I wasn't able to climb it. I got too caught up with the activities

That's my Dad, my sister and my two brothers, dropping us off :-) ikr, #familygoals lol just kiddin

Meeting my cabin mates for the first time. Look at our cabin! The theme is Star Wars.

Funny story was, I was actually with two of my best friends– Allyssa and Gabie. We traveled together all the way from our hometown to the venue itself. We got too excited, we didn't even sleep during the whole car ride. At first, we thought the camp only consisted of like ten to twenty people and we'll sleep together in one cabin but when we arrived, we found out that there were like eighty campers and one of the counselors told us that we would be in separate cabins. So that counselor escorted us one by one to our own cabins and I felt really nervous  because I was shy and I had trouble in making new friends. But when I first walked in, my cabin mates greeted me with cheerful smiles. By that time, I sighed in relief, thinking that maybe this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Water Games by the "pool"

During those days, we were always doing many kinds of activities. From AdveNature and exploring the rainforest , climbing various kinds of Ropes which were very hard to cross but I somehow conquered all of them, Water Games which included being soaked, we had to pick one specific Sport– I chose Volleyball, bc why not?– , ALE and Catechism Classes, and Amazing Races. Also, Every night, we gather around the amphitheater and make a bonfire. And if you were wondering, we had those "typical" bonfires while roasting marshmallows with humongous wooden sticks and smushing them between nutella and graham crackers while we danced around and sang to repeat-after-me songs led by our counselors. And during the last full day, we slid on a mudslide. It's basically a long tarp slide and we'd land on mud (which I consider as one of this camp's highlights). Each day was so tiring that one day feels like a year #tbh. Oh.. and did I mention that they confiscated our phones? Aww, no updates on snapchat stories :( And sadly, the venue is a really high place so no chance of getting a signal.
BONFIRE!! roasting 'em marshmallows

TYPICAL CABINS BE LIKE... BUNK BEDS!!

JAM SESSIONS
Also, during late at night, me and some of my cabin mates gather around with our guitars. We'll have our little "jam sessions", I teach one of my closest cabin mates some of the songs that I know, and she'll teach me the songs that she know as well, I'm sorry.. I'm bad at explaining and I hope you get what I mean.

Our Last Day-- Grouphug!!!

Star Wars Cabin: The "Serious" Group Photo

So basically, this summer camp was definitely a great experience for me. First, I gained new friends, I learned many things and most importantly, I learned how to gain confidence. I never thought I would enjoy this camp, well not for being away from home, but I was really proud of myself because during these days, I was disconnected from my gadgets, I was able to do different activities that included sports and Mother Nature itself.

** side note, I did mention that our phones were confiscated, so these pictures aren't mine. I did my best to snatch these photographs so credits to the owners hehe :-)

Thanks for reading this long blog post !
Stay tuned for more :)
